Luke Chapter 2

Good morning!

I find this chapter wonderful! We find out about Jesus’ birth and how he grew up till about the age of 12.

We see Joseph and Mary go to Bethlehem because it’s time for a census. Then we see the shepherds come to the manger and how they fear the angles at first but then they get to see Jesus as a baby. They spread the news around and everyone marvels about the miracle.

I want to point something out that I found rather interesting in this chapter. I actually find a couple of things interesting and it is of Mary. You can skim right over it if you aren’t careful. I have never seen it, never heard of it. I just find it curious. Maybe because of the time I am in my life? I don’t know but to me it sticks out like a huge red sign! While I was reading I was like why did I never see this before? I know you want me to get on with it!

In verse 19 it says: “But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.” she also does it again in verse 51 “Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart.” I find this very interesting for myself at least. This is how I am, when things happen all around me and I must take in the situations just like Mary had to with Jesus I just hold it in. I could not imagine being the mother to Jesus. That just blows my mind! I’m sure it blew her mind also!

When you need to focus on all the things going around you at once what do you do? Are you like Mary? Do you keep everything in and ponder them? Keep them in your heart? I know I do!

Please share with us what you found interesting in this chapter! Just comment in the comments below.
